Sobre o trabalho
No seu corpo de trabalho, Luiz Eduardo Rayol explora a tensão entre emoções e pensamentos que reúnem a vida, a morte e o cosmos. Ele cria um espaço de demora, onde a poética da mortalidade se une à melancolia da memória. Geralmente apresentada em grandes formatos de escala confrontante, sua pesquisa faz uso de elementos do seu entorno, como arquiteturas, móveis e sombras, que interagem com símbolos extraídos da psicologia de da filosofia. Considerando a impossibilidade de se encontrar o início ou o fim, esses aspectos criam um labirinto de significados e imagens abstratas que aparecem e somem ao longo do tempo em seu trabalho. Como conceitos centrais para sua obra e sua interpretação da realidade estão a união e o renascimento, entendidos como movimentos naturais e eternos de transformação e esperança.
Artist Statement
In his body of work, Luiz Eduardo Rayol explores the tension between emotions and thoughts that surround life, death, and the cosmos. He brings to life a space of lingering dwell, where the idea of mortality merges with the melancholy of memory. Often presented on a large and confrontational scale, his works make use of elements from his surroundings, such as architecture, furniture, and shadows, that interact with symbols drawn from psychoanalysis and philosophy. Considering the impossibility of finding the beginning or the end, these aspects create a labyrinth of meanings and abstract figures that appear and vanish over time. Central to Luiz’s work and interpretation of reality are the union and the rebirth as natural movements of transformation and hope
Mini Bio
Luiz Eduardo Rayol (1998) é um pintor e escultor carioca. Formado em design de produto pela PUC-Rio, inicialmente trabalhando com marcenaria de mobiliário e explorando a pintura separadamente, a prática de Rayol expandiu para juntar essas técnicas com temas de filosofia, natureza, astronomia e misticismo. Luiz também cursou EAV Parque Lage e fez parte de oficinas de arte contemporânea com Charles Watson, Cadu Felix e David Cury. Nos últimos anos, Luiz participou de diversas mostras coletivas importantes, incluindo as principais feiras de arte do país, SP-Arte e ArtRio. Em março de 2025, realizou sua primeira grande exposição individual institucional chamada “Andorinhas-da-lua” no Centro Cultural dos Correios RJ. Hoje, Rayol vive e trabalha no Rio e é representado pela Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte, no Rio de Janeiro, e pela WG Galeria, em São Paulo.
Mini Bio
Luiz Eduardo Rayol (1998) is a Brazilian painter and sculptor born in Rio de Janeiro. As a former product designer, initially doing woodwork furniture and exploring painting separately, Rayol’s practice has since expanded to merge these techniques with themes of philosophy, nature, astronomy and mysticism. Luiz has also studied at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts and participated in contemporary art courses with notable figures such as Charles Watson, Cadu Felix, and David Cury. In recent years, Luiz has been part of several exhibitions, including the two main art fairs in Brazil, SP-Arte and ArtRio. In march 2025, he staged his first large solo show titled “Andorinhas-da-lua” (Moon-Swallows) at the Correios Cultural Center RJ, with large scale paintings and sculptures. Currently, Rayol is based in Rio and is represented by the Anita Schwartz Art Gallery in Rio de Janeiro and WG Gallery in São Paulo.
